Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Education: A National Diploma in Electrical EngineeringExperience: A minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification technical experience in Electrical Engineering ✅ Professional Registration: Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering TechnicianDriver’s License: A valid, unexpired driver’s license is required ✅ Technical Knowledge:

  • Legal compliance and regulatory requirements related to electrical engineering
  • Technical design and analysis skills
  • Proficiency in technical report writing and technical consulting
  • Research development and project management experienceSoft Skills:
  • Change management and people management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Planning, organizing, and customer-focused approach

Key Responsibilities

As an Engineering Technician (Electrical Engineering) at the Department of Water and Sanitation, you will be responsible for:

  • Water Resource Systems Analysis & Development: Assist in the analysis and development of operating rules for water resource systems.
  • Engineering Models & Decision Support Systems: Develop and implement planning and operation models for water resource development and management.
  • Technical Expertise & Advisory Role: Provide expert advice and recommendations in Water Resource Planning and Operations.
  • Business Planning & Human Resource Management: Develop a business plan and manage human resources to ensure efficient operations.
